DCMC
project: Disorders of Motor and
Cardiorespiratory Control, Centre for space bio-medicine
DCMC
(Disorders of Motor and Cardiorespiratory Control) project’s task is to improve
quality of life for people who have a neuromotor or cardiorespiratory
disability. To fulfill such a task there is a strength collaboration between
space and terrestrial research in order to develop innovative countermeasures.
DCMC
program (http://www.dcmclab.org/) has a value of €
27.301.361, whose €
16.623.582 charged to ASI and € 10.677.779 in financial share. There are more
than 60 Unities involved in that project such as University instutiutions,
C.N.R., Istituto Superiore di Sanità, IRCCS, ASL, sone Hospital and four PMI
for an amount of 300 people involved, among researchers and technical, spread
on all the national territory.
Expected results are connected to interrelation
between Motor and Cardiorespiratory Disorders and similar diseases displayed by
astronauts in microgravital environment, such as orienteering problems,
visual-motor coordination, circadian rhythm alterations. Same parallelism
exists between cardiovascular deconditioning in gravity absence and common
cardiovascular diseases on Heart.
So develop appropriate countermeasures could take
great benefits both for man’s space life than for people affected from the same
diseases on Heart.
Farnia
cooperate to this project in order to give research support for the realization
of “TBSS - Terrestrial Benefits Support Service”.
TBSS
is an expertise service to support DCMC Network’s management activity for
evaluation and spread of reached scientific results from space researches to
National Health System. Farina will cooperate in develop of “collaborative
working” instruments for integration and increase value of single research groups
activity spread all over the national territory.
Through TBSS it will possible to:
- point
out results useful for management and medical organizations trough which
they could give real time directions on result’s qualities in order to
evaluate their effects on Heart.
- Contribute
in organize whole information necessary to national system to collect in
advance useful indication upon on quality and price of medical care.
